Beyond Shelter (2019)
Created by Thomas Enriquez & Jasmin Pilatos
Beyond Shelter is a short film that through a series of vignettes, conveys the story of a child journeying within the memories of a past camping trip. The work employs a loose narrative structure to explore how physical environments inform memory as an act of reconstruction rather than tangibility. Filmed across various sites in NSW, the work is referential to our own ideas of psycho-geographic reflection; how space informs or affects behaviour. Shot heavily in POV through an anonymous character’s perspective, the audience is positioned to question whether these sites are of memories they are running towards or away from.
